Arbutus andrachne, commonly known as the “naked man”, is a Mediterranean evergreen plant native to southern Europe, Asia Minor and parts of the Middle East. In Macedonia, the plant can be found in the Gevgelija region and around Lake Tikvesh, where it shows a slight Mediterranean influence. The plant is characterized by its reddish-brown bark that peels off in layers like a skin, hence its local name.
