The territory of Macedonia is abundant with medicinal, aromatic, and spice plants that are used in the daily life of the population. The Macedonian tradition of using various plants, such as teas, balms, and food additives, is very rich. In the past, knowledge about medicinal plants was passed on orally within families. Today, modern pharmacy and technology possess scientific facts and knowledge about medicinal plants, which are successfully applied in the creation of medicines and therapeutic products. The medicinal substances obtained from plants can come from various parts of the plant, including the leaves, roots, bark, fruits, seeds, and flowers.
Referring to national tradition, the Botanical Garden has cultivated and selected several medicinal plants that it successfully combined into a final product – Botanical Garden Mix Tea. The plants included in the Mix Tea (yarrow, lemon balm, St. John’s wort, and thyme) are organically grown in a designated area of the Botanical Garden.
Degustators of the Mix Tea highlighted the bitter taste of yarrow, the pleasant aroma of thyme and St. John’s wort, and the calming and refreshing note of lemon balm. We recommend this excellent Mix Tea as a daily hot beverage, especially in the late autumn and winter months.
