Geranium macrorrhizum is a perennial plant that can grow up to 70 centimeters tall. It has a thick root and is covered in soft hairs. It thrives in wet places, next to springs, streams, etc., in hilly and mountainous regions up to 2000 meters above sea level. In the southern parts of its distribution range, it appears as a very common species. People grow it in their gardens for its pretty flowers and to use as a medicine. Geranium can be found in Central and Southern Europe, as well as the countries of the Balkan Peninsula. The fresh geranium contains a high percentage of essential oils with a very intense fragrance.
