Asphodeline lutea, also known as royal spear or yellow asphodeline, grows naturally in Southeastern Europe, North Africa, and Turkey. The stem and leaves are traditionally consumed in the Mediterranean region because of their nutritional properties. Extracts from the root of this plant have antimicrobial, antimutagenic, and antioxidant properties, which is why they are often used by the local population for skin diseases.
