Known also as “wax flower,” this perennial plant is often grown as an ornamental plant. It is named after the Englishman Thomas Hoy. It develops as a creeping plant attached to neighboring plants or objects. It is recognizable by its ovate leaves. In its natural environment, the main blooming occurs in June, sometimes followed by another bloom in September. It is characterized by a weak but distinct scent. This species is found in Eastern India, Southern China, Taiwan, Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Japanese islands of Kyushu and Ryukyu, and the Fiji Islands, where it grows in humid subtropical forests.
