St. John’s wort is a perennial plant that grows between 30 to 100 cm in height. The plant is typically highly branched toward the top, with two prominent ridges running along the length of its stem. It is commonly found along roadsides, at the edges of forests, in oak woodlands, clearings, and meadows. The plant is widespread across much of Europe, as far north as Central Scandinavia, east to China, and south to North Africa. It has also been introduced to North and South America, Australia, and New Zealand.
