Thymus oehmianus is a very old endemic Macedonian plant that only grows in the middle and lower course of the Treska River gorge. It inhabits wet environments, near mountain springs. Because it is tied to substrates with a high level of moisture, its populations are directly threatened by extinction due to increasing drought periods and global warming.
