Wormwood is a perennial plant with a strong, branched, woody stem that reaches heights of 60 to 120 cm. If the necessary conditions for uninterrupted growth and development are given, wormwood can live for 3 to 10 years. It grows along roadsides, abandoned cultivated fields, and forest edges, on nutrient-rich and dry soils. The whole plant has strong aromatic properties. It is believed that wormwood originated in the salty steppes of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, from where it spread to other parts of the world due to human influence.
