The Himalayan cedar is a coniferous tree with an upright trunk that can reach a height of up to 50 meters. It occurs naturally in the northwestern regions of the Himalayas at altitudes ranging from 1,100 to 3,000 meters, mostly on silicate substrates. It is often found in association with pine and fir trees. It grows on deep and well-drained soils and thrives in areas with high humidity. Young plants are sensitive to frost and cold winds. It is grown as an ornamental in gardens, either alone or in small groups.
