It is a large succulent plant that resembles an upright tree. Under natural conditions, it can reach a height of 9 to 10 meters. It is characteristic of the arid regions of Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan and Eritrea. As it grows, the stem transforms into a woody form, which is later used as a building material or in the production of furniture. The plant’s milky sap is used in traditional medicine.
