Peppermint is a medicinal plant with a square stem, reaching a height of up to 80 cm. From its perennial underground parts, a large number of young shoots develop, allowing it to propagate quickly and easily. The young branches are often reddish in color. It is cultivated as a farmed plant but can also be found growing wild along canal systems and in moist meadows. Due to its intensive cultivation, it is widespread in various parts of the world, especially in Europe, North America, and South America. Peppermint contains essential oil, which is used both in traditional medicine and in pharmacology and cosmetics.
